Amos Eugene "Gene" Bell, 71, died Saturday, July 15, 2006. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Bell Family Cemetery. Mr. Bell, a native and lifelong resident of the Belvoir community of Pitt County, attended Lighthouse Baptist Church. He was employed with Winterville Machine Works for 38 years. He was an avid fisherman, New York Yankees fan and UNC basketball fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie E. and Athleen H. Bell; a brother, George E. Bell; sister, Audrey B. Whichard; and a great-grandson, William Joseph Dunn. Surviving are his wife, Doris Woolard Bell; daughter, Debra B. Dunn and husband, Butch, of Belvoir; sons, Michael Ray Bell of the home and Roger Eugene Bell and wife, Sharon, of Winterville; grandchildren, Joseph Eugene Dunn and wife, Christine, Dalton Ray Dunn and wife, Rebecca, Michael Wayne Dunn and wife, Renee, Kari Ann Bell, and Chelsea Lynn Bell; great-grandchildren, Taylor Leigh Dunn, Haylee Jo Dunn and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Dunn; brothers, Rev. Willie E. Bell Jr. and wife, Eunice, of Belvoir and Dennis Ward Bell of Greenville; and a number of niece and nephews. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
